Before you read any further – we just want to tell you that this car isn’t going to be coming to the United States anytime soon (or ever). BMW announced today that it will unveil its new BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition at next month’s 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.The BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine making 163-hp with a maximum torque of 265 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that drives power to the wheels. While 0 to 62 mph comes in a somewhat respectable 8.2 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph, fuel-economy comes in at an outstanding 68.9 mpg imp. (57 mpg in U.S. terms).Until BMW decides to bring the 320d EfficientDynamics Edition to the U.S., you can satisfy your fuel-economy hunger with the BMW 335d or Volkswagen’s Jetta diesel.
